Dropped my Pixel 3a today, I now have a non-functional screen.
Now to find someplace in New Zealand that will replace the screen.
And order a new phone from Amazon USA - Dick Smith sells them cheaper, but I don't trust them
Found a place in Auckland called Smashed IT that supply official replacement parts for the Pixel 3a - quote was on the high side at $365, but they were quick and they indicated it could be done in a few hours when the phone was received. So I sent the phone away yesterday and now await its return.
I also purchased a brand new device from Amazon - I could only get the Purple version and with shipping and import fees it was a tad more expensive than I paid for the first one ...

How I got mine -

Of course I was holidaying at the time...
So I got my Purple Pixel 3a from Amazon on Monday, and received my fixed device on Tuesday morning.
So now I am happy - I have a spare 3a in case I have another oops moment; yet to decide what happens in say 6 months if I still haven't opened the Purple 3a
Well foobar; my new screen on my Pixel 3a has unglued itself.
So it now needs to take yet another trip up to Auckland in order to be repaired (thankfully under warranty)
As a result, I am super happy that I purchased another Pixel 3a, as I am now setting it up to be the replacement for the original for the duration of its repair
Out of interested, the Pixel 3a can now be shipped from Amazon without any extra customs charges or GST added; as a result if I purchased one today it would cost me ~$150 less than I did at the start of the month. I wonder if this is an issue with calculating GST, or will things be GST free until the threshold is reached ($60k?)
