Hi, Could someone with a Galaxy S tell me how good / bad the stock email app is?  I'm looking at buying one of these, but need to be able to connect it with exchange activesync and use it for work emails.  Thanks!

It's fine. I use it to sync with my work's exchange server. It's not a problem if you have OWA set up. It generally tells me I have new email faster than Outlook does. And the calendar sync is a life saver.

Both calender and email working fine here via exchange. If you need really good folder support for your work exchange account Seven is an excellent exchange email software for Android, and free! Its not a market app, so Google is in order if you need it :)

I understand that the Galaxy S is going to get Android 2.2 Froyo at some unspecified time in the future and that, amongst other things, that will give Flash 10.1 functionality on the phone.

What exactly will that mean for day-to-day use? I have been using my GS for a couple of weeks (and lovin' it) but I'm not really aware of anything it can't do due to NOT having Flash 10.1. What does Flash 10.1 do?

Enable all those annoying banner ads on websites to appear and instantly triple page load times!  Sealed

Youtube for example - non-Flash devices like the iPhone have to have a Youtube App to play videos because the web browser can't view them natively.

So how come I can watch Youtube on my GS with Android 2.1/without 2.2?

There's usually an option on the browser to load flash on demand only, so your page loading doesn't get hampered by loading flash banners etc.

Also a lot of people have reported improved battery times with 2.2, which is promising :)

As for being able to play flash on 2.1, try going to kongregate.com from your mobile and see if any of the games work ;)

@nztech

You using the lagfix? how you finding it?
I only use about 20 apps really and im only using about 20 megs so that leaves me with about 90 megs free in dbdata...
the phone runs nicely.......

So annoying that samsung didnt use decent nand for all the internal storage, they probably saved a few dollars but really cripples the phone.... wonder if someone at samsung will get spanked for making that decision....

Probably not - IIRC, Samsung are the only ones producing SAMOLED screens for smartphones, and at this stage, the only ones equipping their handsets with them (did I read somewhere that they're not onselling them to other manufacturers for 18 months?).  If that's the case, they'll probably be selling the Galaxy S at a loss to get the technology out there; I suspect that's why the case is a little on the plastic-y side too.  Kind of along the same lines as Sony with the PS3; use the device to get a new tech out in the market (Bluray) so it takes off and other OEMs start clamouring for it.
