joker97: hmm ... i have wiped cache delvik and uninstalled adsfree.

still not working ... tried stock browser on 2.3.5 and dolphin mini too

where is the hosts file?

In system/etc, if you delete the app it would probably still leave the file unless it backs it up somewhere ready for uninstall

If there is no trademe lines in there it wont affect trademe. you could backup do a full wipe and reinstall and see if it fixes it.

Just install and use Opera Mobile for Trademe.  It's an easy workaround.

Just like to say thanks for your help everyone. I have installed Opera Mobile and it works so much appreciated.

With regard to a couple of other points that have been raised. The phone was purchase second hand through here and has Cyanogen mod 7 installed. I don't apear to have any adds free apps installed but obviously can't rule out anything uninstalled by the previous owner  beleaving something behind.

Thanks,
Laurie
