Recording the new season of CSI on Mon, the box froze at the start of the next program, after a reboot it lost the CSI recording. Grrr
Is there a reason why this happens?  I come from Tivo world where this wasn't the case, why does the box lose the entire recording?  Why not keep what it has partially recorded to disk and close off the file?

I get screen freezes at least once a month - sometimes more.  And the loss of recordings does my head in, as the freeze is almost always at the end - when the planner is set to record the next lot of shows, the unit has a spaz, becuase it does not end the recording of the previous show, before the next one starts - and this can cause a problem if you are recording on another channel also.

I can't understand why it won't let us have access to a part recorded file.  I'd rather watch some of what should have recorded than none at all.

And all these failed recordings is making me source the programmes from other places.

I don't think I am asking too much from myskyhd box, I am only using it for what it says it can do - record 2 channels - watch a third/or a recording.  But when it is a programmed lined up after those 2 recording channels the box spazzs

Here is a cut n paste from a nother thread I replied in:

I have had this problem since we got myskyhd last November.

We are on our second box now.

I find the problem happens if I am recording 2 channels and watching a 3rd using live pause.  And if I have a show due to record after those two channels.  The mysky unit just cannot handle it and spazzes then freezes.

For example.

Recording 8:30 show on TV2 and another on TV3 at 8:30 while watching the 8:30 show on TV1 using live pause (had toilet breaks)

That uses 3 tuners.

Then at 9:30 I recored the show directly after the previous on TV2 and do the same again for tv3

They start recording even before the 8:30 shows have finished.  So it has a little spazz because it needs to use 2 more tuners a total of five.

When it has it's spazz it freezes.

I have followed advice in this forum to set recording to automatic ie don't use 5mins before and 5 mins after (that caused more screenfreezes)

Technically and logically the box should do the following.

Record tv 2 programme at 8:30, record the tv 3 programme at 8:30

Both should stop recording at 9:30

Then it should record the tv 9:30 programme and record the tv 9:30 programme...instead of trying to record while the 8:30 shows are recording.

But instead the box tries to use more tuneers than what it has installed.

Really gets on my nerves and tonight, I am only recording tv3 as I don't want to have any failed recordings seeing Lost is back on and Heroes is on TV3 at the same time.

I really don't know what else we can do except complain, complain and complain, again and again to sky.
