Ok after waiting a week for the install at 3pm Fri we sat down to enjoy it later that evening. Having not subscribed to movies or sports I was surprised to find only one channel was in high def. TV 3!
To make matters worse it kept freezing every half hour or so needing a reboot to get it going again.
Thank-fully tech support replaced the secondhand unit Sat morning. We came home Sat afternoon to find the replacement unit is also faulty.
Suggestions from support have not been able to revive it. They have no call out teckkie so we are now without tv for the rest of the weekend  :-(

I would of thought, going to the expense and step up of getting MySky HDi you would of at least done some research and known what you were paying for. Complaining of only getting TV3 in HD sounds like you haven't done your homework. Why bother, you might as well got Freeview. Pay the measly extra $10 HD ticket and get the whole deal with Sports and Movies in HD as well with Sky.

You misunderstood! I never complained about only getting TV3 in HD!
HD was not the reason for getting myskyhdi and the cost was no factor to consider. My complaint is having to wait untill Monday because tech support is not available over the weekend.

it doesnt run long enough to get hot, if left unplugged for 15 minutes then powered up again it works...for 4 mins then it dies again.

Sorry, and definetly not trying to tell you what you should do, but if not wanting to get HD with Sky, why not just get MySky1, it's got mega HDD capacity in the PVR and all the features of HDi without the HD. Secondly, if cost was not a factor, go hard and get both - we did.

I think he just wants what he has working - the fault is the issue - not trying to solve a problem he hasnt got outside of that.

Off topic, but I have MySkyHDi and don't subscribe to Movies and Sports. I wouldn't be without it. I like that I can record two channels while watching another (being able to record both movies on 2 and 3, while watching something else is very handy). I don't know if MySky1 has 3 tuners? Also, the reason we didn't go Freeview is quite simply the lack of Channels. No Box, No Prime, No discovery, food or living. We do have multiroom, so have the HD ticket - great for OnDemand or Box office, but other than TV3 don't see any HD. Looking forward to TV1 and 2 going HD in June.

As for the OP, what a let down, all that time waiting for MySky and it doesn't work. You say they installed a second hand unit? Demand a new one next time.

1st decoder was second hand but at least it would reset.
This second decoder was new out of the box yesterday.

I'd make sure you thrash the new one when the tech is there, like recording two channels and watching a third, live pause etc and try and recreate the problems you had before you let him out the door, push for a credit as well, Sky's pretty good like that.

unfortunately I wont be at home when the tech gets here but I'll suggest to my wife to push for a credit. She wont decline a bit of spending money for mothers day. CoolCheers

No point trying to get a credit from the tech, its nothing to do with him. Unfortunately you will have to persue it on the phone.

I feel your pain. I have had many issues and been without TV for a week at a time more than once.
