Hi Guy's,
I have a Sharp BS1D1AQ412A LNB which has 2 throats for D1/D2 and 4 outputs.

Can anyone help me with info for this as I have searched Google without any results

As far as I'm aware...

13v = D1 V
18v = D1 H

13v 22k = D2 V
18v 22k = D2 H

Any port

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though as I'm not a Sky tech.

I know it is not D1 and D2 - it is D1 and D3/C1 - but I'm not sure whether the outputs are independent with 22kHz/tone burst/DiSEqC to switch satellite or individual for D1 H, D1 V, D3 H and D3 V. I'd suspect the first option like illicit said...

Thanks Guy's that's a start.

If one thinks there are 4 seperate antennas/LNB's in there it would allow one output to be D1 v, another to be D1 h and the other throat to be C1v and C1H. (or of course D1 v and D1 v and C1 v and C1 v etc - quite a combination.
I see Sky now supply 4 output but only single throat - their idea of using C1 as backup must have fallen through in preference to 4 outputs for their HD mysky units.
There must be someone out there that has the full technical info on this.

Hi, there was a memo released late last year that states that the future use of D3 for capacity expansion is no longer on the drawing board, all will stay on D1, so dual throat LNBs are no longer needed.

Maybe someone else can post that memo should they still have it kicking around.

I think one issue, is that if D1 spun out (like B1) there is no way the current firmware in either standard or MySky boxs can automatically redirect to traffic on D3, it would require a media release or something to get folk to do a LNB setup change in the box to make it work, so pretty lame to assume it would work anyway.

According to Sky there new endcoders will enable them more capacity, also I guess (could be wrong) that TP9 which is currently not used as it clash's with some terrestrial services that are soon to be shut down will give them two more muxs, but I could be wrong on this last one.

Sky will simply shift services to DVB-S2 H.264 and dump all the DVB-S mpeg2 decoders. They really have no choice anyway.

Hopefully this means better channel quality rather than just greater quantity, since some of them are pretty bad (not as bad as in the past though).

Wouldn't co-location require them to use the 9750-10600 MHz "low band" to avoid interference with the signals from D1? Alternatively, wouldn't they have to use vertical polarisation? If the answer to either of those questions is yes then my understanding is that their current standard setup wouldn't handle it - none of their LNBs pick up the low band, and having dual polarity signals would make their "record x channels while watching a yth" thing more complicated...
