Does anyone know how hard it might be to take apart an old lens to remove fungi?

I see a cheap lens on trademe that I could be interested in, not prepared to pay too much for it as I suspect it's a fairly risky proposition to try and take it apart for cleaning.

Anyone have any recomendations?

Not really a camera lens expert but this (Also going cheap) would probably help dismantle it.

Haha - @muppet

I think every brand of lens (& their individual lenses) are going to be slightly different, but I had great success taking apart and cleaning water drop marks and a small amount of fungus on the lenses of a Canon 70-200 zoom.

Check YouTube - just about everything that can be repaired is probably on there now. Good luck.

Cheers,
Mike

I've had lenses serviced by Phototronic before but it might not be worth it you for that lens. Servicing auto-focus lenses tends to be a lot more fiddly to maintain calibration.
