Hello all

We're looking to add a conservatory to the front of the house so that it will serve as a covered and enclosed entrance porch.

Wondering if anyone has recently undertaken any such project and what alternatives to the standard aluminium conservatory would there be, if any.

Cheers

I’ve built four, all in timber with polycarbonate roofing at a fraction of what an aluminium one would cost.

First one was in Cedar, but that got too expensive.
Next three were all in Pine stained with CD50

@Brunzy, do you have any pictures of them? Any more detail about how you constructed them?

I built this one a little differently as we are on a busy road, the others have been all glass.

The cladding on the inside is cedar weatherboard turned back to front from my house that had been incorrectly clad using galvanised nails.

Not sure why this didn’t show up in the first post.

Brunzy:

Thanks Brunzy. That looks very good, and exactly the kind of ideas I was looking for. Appreciate it.

No problem!

Edit: the weatherboard came from a house, not our house.
It was an insurance job and the builders were selling it off for a dollar a metre.
Too good to pass up ;-)

Damn! Nice job. Come fix mine, it's only a few square metres, semi circular and mostly glass—it was put on in 1960 and most is rotten and needs replaced. Probably  a chunk of roof support beam pergola thingies is salvageable but the rest is rotten from the bottom up. I am looking for a builder to rebuild it.
