Hello

Recently had vertical blinds installed and opted to not have motorised versions, as the uplift was quite expensive and felt it would be cheaper to source myself.

Happy to do the research and thus, it isn't time wasting at $500 per blind.

The installer has sent me the model number they use:

Dooya - DM25LEU/N -1.1/20

Item Code: CNZ-DC25-1.1n.m

Lithium rechargeable battery

Looking on the various websites for this model, or one that is 28 revolutions per minute, it appears this model supports up to 38mm diameter roll. The installer has indicated the tube diameter is 42mm internal.

Does any one have any guidance on procuring the correct motorised blinds, or any additional insight please?

regards

Following, as I'm quite keen to motorise our roller blinds. I'd need them to work with Alexa as well.

Lots of options seemingly out there, but information is pretty scarce. Will have to re-start my research.

make sure you build in a way to be able to replace them.

i've seen it where the gear is 10 years old (10 year old house) and no parts available, and it would require major reno to replace them. of course in typical kiwi fashion the original owner had sold up and dumped the problem onto the new owners.

I bought the fancy hexagonal shaped blinds from China some motorised and they were excellent (need to get measurements right though). Failed to check that they'd fit my home automation though so I couldn't do that. Were excellent and high quality surprisingly. Did 5 windows (3x motorised, 2x manual), none of which were small and cost me around $1000 all up. I'd always do it again.

I might actually have one of those Dooya units kicking around not sure if I still have it.  From memory they are about 25MM inner tube diameter with the piece that slots into the grove of the standard tube being around 37mm its rubber at the end and has a little wiggle room - suits the standard 40mm tube.  Verify the size of the tube by taking the blind down, and pulling the end cap off (they usually are not glued on so its just friction fit).

I recommend using something that has zigbee and not just the RF remote.  Otherwise you wont know the position of the blind or battery level etc.

After trialing the Dooya model you mention I ended up going with Zemismart (ZM25EL-08/25-ZB) as it has built in Zigbee in the tube itself not a dongle.  You can get a cheap Tuya zigbee hub and with that use the Smartlife Tuya app to control all the blinds, and hook it up to your preferred Voice Assistant.

There is some advantages of the Dooya - nicer looking RF Remote, uses 5V to charge so no special USB charging cable.

I bought doya automatica curtains from aliexpress and just paird them with a z-wave control.   was a little finicky, and i cnat set curtains to be 25% open or anything, just open/close.  but really cheap, and not too much of a hassle.  been running them for about 6 years now

If anyone cares, Somfy is what is often installed in commercial offices. Also did Lutron controlled blinds, but unsure what brand the morors were.

I have ordered two of these, https://blinds4u.co.nz/product/a-ok-motor/ , from the company that manufactured and installed our blinds.

There is such a myriad of motor options available. The instructions on the blinds4U website for programming seem to come from https://motolux.com.au

However, blinds4u are stating they are A-OK motors! https://aokaustralia.com.au

Seems such a mystery LOL
