Hi

I'm getting an Apple TV to use at my new place and have been looking at getting Netflix and Hulu setup for it, however I'm running into a few issues with credit cards.

When setting up with Netflix you need to enter a zip code however when I try all the tricks of adding numbers to the end etc, I still can't make a valid zip code from my postcode, so then I try and sign up with EntroPay, I've created an account however when I try both my BNZ Visa debt and My BNZ Mastercard it tells me that EntroPay doesn't support my country or territory.

Does EntroPay not work for just me from NZ?

Does anybody know of another way to get a Netflix and Hulu account?

Cheers

Hi,

There are many threads covering a lot of this already, however Netflix works with most NZ credit cards (I use one) and just enter a US postcode.  I either use 90210 or the one associated with my buyusa.co.nz account (used for buying US delivery address only goods).  There is another thread that notes that address checking on credit cards is not done in NZ, it's a USA thing.

However Hulu is far more complicated.  The common method in NZ seems to be the Air NZ AirPoints card, which can be loaded with different currencies.  I load mine with USD and then it works fine on HuluPlus.

You could sign up to one of the many services offering cards, however Hulu and others (Amazon I think is one) are very picky, and don't accept prepaid or overseas cards.

Try Netflix with 90210 and let us know if it works.

Hi

90210 does not work nor does any valid zip code I try.

I thought that as Entropay also won't accept my credit card then maybe there was an issue with my card however I just used it to add credit to my pokerstars account.

I'll have to try another virtual credit card company, any recommendations?

Payoneer?. You get a Real Debit Mastercard. I have one but not tried using it for GeoBlocked Services.

I pay both hulu and netflix though a US itunes account. Means the credit card is sorted from that side.

Then it's up to you how you fund the itunes account, either with e Us accepted credit card (one smart) or pre bought itunes cards.

I thought you can only create a US Paypal account if you used a US-based credit card?

Payoneer cards are issued by Choice Bank in Belize, so probably won't be considered valid by Hulu et al.

I use a standard ANZ MasterCard. First time I signed up I got a call within 5 minutes from the bank. They wanted to confirm that I had authorised the payment. That's pretty good security I thought.

I never had any issues creating a US paypal account:

1) ensured VPN was connected to US end point (need this to create US paypal acct)
2) signed up to paypal using youshop address
3) funded paypal account from my nz paypal account
4) signed up to Hulu+ and Netflix

I've found by doing this I don't have to worry about credit cards been blocked by Hulu using paypal, and its linked to the youshop address so that side is all valid...

since i've been doing this i've not had any issues and every few months I just make sure their is enough credit to fund hulu and netflix which you can fund using the paypal send money facility.

make sure you have a VPN setup to the US to create the account.

oh yeah you will need to use an alternate email address if you have an existing paypal acct.

Ahh I see you setup a new account. Do you use the same credit card for your NZ account and US account - I could see this causing some problems.

**** WRONG***I have no credit card linked to the us paypal account****WRONG**** I fund it using the paypal send money facility which is essentially firing an email to the us paypal account with the amount to top it up with i leave about $100 US in their and that pays for hulu when I need to and I get emails when hulu or netflix arnt able to draw down the funds so i just top up and carry on if that happens

OOOPS I stuffed up, it had been a while since I set this all up, I used one of those u.s. disposable credit cards to verify the US paypal account and since then completely forgot about it since I never used it since.

freitasm was correct you do need a us credit card but those can be gotten easy enough initially a prepay one which u can use to setup up paypal with, and paypal don't use the ban hammer on them like hulu and netflix do...

VPN not necessary from my experience - as long as your IP address is consistent and does not change regularly it is fine
