Hi

I'm looking at the cheapest way ( yet still wife friendly) way to show TVNZ on demand on our panasonic plasma

At the moment if the wife misses a show she has to watch it on her iphone. I'd like to make it better for her

I'm thinking at this stage some sort of andriod hdmi device with the app sideloaded, or maybe a cheap samsung blu-ray player that can download the app

for official support, I would go with the cheap (2nd hand?) samsung smart blu ray that has the app.

if youi go for android device and sideload it, it could break at any time as it isn't designed for non-samsung devices.

I just use the chromecast and chrome on my laptop that has the chromecast addin enabled.

Haven't figured out how to do it from the tablet yet.

Overseas content can be watched but you need a router (i use a linksys router running DD-WRT) that will redirect Google's dns settings to another DNS provider.
This allows me to use the Chromecast to watch itv, BBC news live feed on my tv via chrome and am sure it will work for us content too

Am already running Unblock US with my Roku, just not sure how to get some of the US TV sites to play on my TV, ones that aren't supported by the Roku.

It doesn't. To run the TVNZ app, the device needs to have SmartHub support, which that model does not. Native apps just means Youtube, Weather, and a couple others.
