This is a little project I've been working on ( business apps work work can get boring ;) ) it indexes streaming sites in NZ much like moreflicks does, All the meta data is pulled from tvdb and tmdb

You can select which sites to search, its currently indexing the following NZ sites (TVNZ, TV3/TV4, SkyGO, Sky PPV, Quickflix, Quickflix PPV, Lightbox) and the following international sites (BBC, Netflix US,TheCW)
Future things...

  • xbmc / kodi addon (got it 90% working) launch's chrome in kiosk mode to view
  • Fix pinning accuracy (get some false positives)
  • All netflix regions are possible but the amount of requests might not be appreciated
  • Maybe itunes feed ... not sure how useful that is
  • ChoiceTV has a couple of shows..  not sure how useful that is

Cool idea.

I know it's currently a Beta,  but the 3 random things I tried that I know are on Lightbox, only show as being on Netflix us  (Sherlock, Breaking bad, Battlestar Galactica).  It seems like only stuff that is only on Lightbox shows as Lightbox (e.g. Homeland, Vikings), but anything that is on Netflix AND Lightbox shows as Netflix.

I also thought that Netflix had recently shut it's APIs down so it wasn't possible to do this kind of thing. How are you pulling the Netflix data?

Yeah I'm not sure how to display that in a clean way, if you remove netflix from the search sites it will will show lightbox entries instead, maybe I should weight the NZ site higher we want to encourage people to use it

For movies I've got links but a link for every episode for every source seems a bit extreme

There is a json feed that the website uses if you can get the build id out ;) (I don't want to abuse it though which is why I'm only pulling US data) and it dosnt have all the metadata but thats what tvdb/tmdb is for

That's quite a neat site - being able to search thru multiple sites - great for catch up, etc, Usually can't be bothered to browse to each streaming site to look for what I've missed - this puts it into one great launch area so to speak laughing.

ChoiceTV would be nice

Also would like to try the XBMC addon ?

Nice.
People will suggest a million sites to add ... How about ITV and Channel 4 - then you have the UK covered!

As above - like the show search being able to search multiple sites - thats pretty fine!

Looks good.

I will say that the interface to see episodes on Lightbox is far superior than Lightbox itself. I have found that to be very slow for the amount of data is displaying. Your interface seems much cleaner and returns data a damn sight quicker.

Definitely interested in the Kodi/XBMC addon when you have it ready.

I may have missed something, but is it possible to get results by Alphabetical order? Otherwise looks great.

Thanks guys appericate all the nice feed back, having fun doing web stuff again

Heres the *very* early copy of the xbmc/kodi addon any fixs welcome... I should really add it to github...

http://lemontv.co.nz/kodi/plugin.video.lemontv 0.1.zip

Note: you will need to update the browser command in the addon settings

Looking at a couple of things next, mostly driven but what I want to learn, this is meant to be fun after all

  • OpenID login so you can create lists and share them ie all marvel movies, all good tv shows etc
  • I have a supplier for pretty much all the american sites (nbc, abc, hulu etc) so those are running in test mode currently
  • I will add sources if you can supply a decent xml or json feed ;)  I really only wrote a couple of scrapers to learn python3
Alpha order is possible its currently order by "new-ness" and rating, so hopefully only good/newer shows should bubble to the top, Although the top 250 movies is by rating only

Added neontv and google play movies (there is tv as well but its all pay per episode...)

Pinned lists can now be tied to google or facebook logins (planning on adding email notification at some point)

International sites now show a country of original popup and require login

Next on the list

Tech things

  • Entity Framework poco
  • azure looks cool might move to that
  • move to .net5/next
  • google ads don't support ajax at all...

so can you tell us exactly how much content each service has?

(Not sure what we would count as titles e.g. is Breaking Bad one title,  or is it 5, because it's 5 seasons, or is it 60-something because that's how many episodes)

Maybe if you are pulling the meta data this means you know how long each things is, so you tell us how many hours each service is currently listing?  Lightbox has publicly stated 5000 hours. You can tell us if thats true or not :)

The other guys keep it fairly under wraps.  Would be good to compare.

lol, this is my playground site and I cant see any personal benefit the AUS sites seem to have the same content as NZ

NonprayingMantis: so can you tell us exactly how much content each service has?

Roughly (counting a series as 1 no matter how many seasons/episodes)

lightbox    316
neontv    683
quickflix    135
quickflix-ppv    89
sky    729
sky-ppv    434
tv3    49
tvnz    347

That puts neontv on top but having movie titles probably helps.  A better count might be the count of top 250 titles (via imdb) aka stuff worth watching

lightbox    58
neontv    44
quickflix    5
sky    16
sky-ppv    12
tv3    5
tvnz    12

Stats always lie

Episode count.. because why not

lightbox    9966
neontv    3604
quickflix    278
quickflix-ppv    228
sky    1244
sky-ppv    436
tv3    2849
tvnz    2238

I missed this thread first time round (maybe because the name is similar to a certain free to air sport website of the not-quite-legal nature).

Definitely bookmarking for when Netflix NZ launches next month.
