Hi there, yesterday I bought a small smart tv for the bedroom. Is there a way to get Netflix and Hulu on it just using the tv? I have an unblock US subscription that I use on our other devices for this purpose. Pretty sure the only way to do it is if your region is set to USA, which is doable on some other brands but have never seen this facility on Panasonics. They have different models per region, so no ability in the firmware to change region. If you could flash a different firmware it would probably kill freeview.

Not quite sure I understand, but you could set your router/modem so it uses the unblock-us DNS servers - that way everything in your network is 'unblocked'. Then you would need to set your TV so it thinks its in a region that can install Netflix/Hulu.

I found some info here http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/articles/9484-setting-up-unodns-on-your-panasonic-tv-and-blu-ray about setting up your network settings on a Panasonic TV if you don't want to change you router settings. Interestingly, they mention issues in trying to change the TV region. If this bit is true you may not be able to trick it into thinking its in a region that can install Netflix.

I know that it sort of defeats the purpose of a smart tv, but you could hook up a cheap laptop/netbook with HDMI to it.

My daughter has just got an ipad mini, so her "old" HP netbook is great for this. Much easier to use than the Samsung browser.

I think the Sammy's are the only ones that allow you to change the regions and it is very easy to do.

I have mine set to the UK and watch heaps of UK stuff (BBC iplayer, BBC sport, ITV, 4OD etc) along with of course netflix.

Is it too late to look at the Samsung 32 smart tv priced at $488 listed there. Maybe you can take the Panasonic back as sold not fit for purpose? The extra $90 in changeover would be well worth it.

$39 amazon stick
$49 roku stick

Would be your best bet, as per above firmware is the issue.

Great UI on the Apple TV. Pity you can't airplay skygo, tvnz Ondemand, or 3Now. They must block them somehow until they are licensed with Apple.
