Just in the last couple of days 2 laptops I have been using with chromecast now come up with "failing to cast" message when connecting to found device. This is happening on more than one chromecast and is happening on both laptops (Running Windows 10). Iphone and desktop connections work 100%. Has anyone else struck this problem? Wanted to use this for casting Spark has been working fine with all sites but just all of a sudden won't cast

While the TVs and Chromecasts are on, switch your router off and after a good 15 seconds power it back on, might have jumped to a unsupported WiFi channel.

GoodSync. Easily back up and sync your files with GoodSync. Simple and secure file backup and synchronisation software will ensure that your files are never lost (affiliate link).

Will try NomNom but because this happens in 2 different locations I think it may be more of a problem with perhaps a Chrome or windows10 update..

Mine has been acting all flakey recently from the youtube app on my phone. Worse than normal. Just acts like it connecting but the youtube logo comes up on the screen and then nothing happens. Powercycle the chromecast and it get to its slideshow and then try again, same thing happens. Close youtube on the phone and then try again and it would work. Happened twice in one day.

Needed the app closed and the chromecast rebooted for it to connect again.

I have had similar issues - YouTube logo only plus Chrome saying no devices (if reboot the chromecast it sometimes will then see). In all cases another browser or sending from phone works fine. Looking on net I see others with similar issues, in particular, the YouTube one has been noted on the Chomecast forums.

I have a chromecast connected to a Panasonic OLED. The Panasonic's native cast functionality for YouTube is far more reliable than the chromecast so I tend to use this in preference to the google offering.

certainly plausible.

i've seen Chromecast Gen 1 not work on Ch 13 (possibly following US restrictions).

The laptop finds the device straight away without any problems but after you select the device to cast to it comes up with "failing to cast". After looking into it more it appears as if there is a problem with either a Google chrome update or a windows 10 update. At this stage there appears to be no fix until Google sorts it. Bit frustrating because while you can still cast ok off an Iphone, Skygo will not let you cast off the SkygoApp, whereas you can cast Skygo off a laptop. Are there any suggestions on a better casting setup rather than Chromecast?
