So this is going to be long shot, but must put at least some effort.

Some thieves snapped the cable while I was eating at a noodle bar. I could actually see bike with corner of my eye. Turned a second later and it's gone.

Really sucks as I only got to use it for like 5 days.

Merida 20d with glued on brake sensors (white putty), C965 screen with square buttons, 48V Dillenger battery (not actually taped), 1000W BBSHD.

A decade of crap policy is producing predictable fruit in the form of a generation of late teens / early 20s who are now a waste of space. The same thing happened in the late 90s after National's run from 1990.

Way to turn a thread into a political rant.

If it is a decade of crap policy, isn't that Labours fault?

You may choose to ignore the consequences of bad policy.....that's your choice. My point was this bike theft is just the latest in a series of criminal events I've encountered personally after a long period of none at all. There will be causes for that......and when you see who the crim.

s are and where they come from, the causes aren't rocket science. We've been here before. Well, I have, but then I'm over 50 and have a functioning memory.

OK...Eight years. I stand corrected.

What would you prefer?  For Labour to be in power, start taking more taxes from middle income NZ (don't worry, they are the same as National and won't go after the wealthy) and then hand it out to people that don't want to work?

People steal regardless of who is in power, in fact the only time I have been robbed was under a Labour government.

To the OP, I hope you have the serial number of your bike and have given that to the police, they actually recover a lot of bikes to which they never find the owner for.

There is a lot of crime starting now as National's poor economic policies start to really hit the people at the bottom.

In the past two months our area has gone from being a relatively quiet place to dodgy people cruising the streets looking for houses to burgle. Three weeks ago teens from south Auckland were attacking local kids in Greenlane coming home from school and stealing their bikes. They would then jump on the train to escape.

We had three come up the drive just this morning claiming to come see a mate.......at my house.

Um...no. They have no mate at my house. The neighbour saw them off and came and told me a few minutes ago. I had heard the voices.

A decade of crap policy is producing predictable fruit in the form of a generation of late teens / early 20s who are now a waste of space. The same thing happened in the late 90s after National's run from 1990.

It's as predictable as can be......but they never seem to learn from it. Nor do voters.

Sorry about your bike. I'll keep my eyes open.

Heh do you ever miss an opportunity to politicise everything? Sometimes it's just a scumbag stealing a bike.

Sigh.

To the OP, sorry about your bike, I hope you find it. I'd suggest neighbourly as well.

@dzh: I know bikes can go anywhere but which part of Auckland was it stolen from?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Maybe a good idea to keep a watch on Trademe, I looked yesterday for about half an hour and couldn't find yours, but then again they could list it anytime.

You're right, in a way.

This isn't the thread for looking at wider patterns so I've removed those posts. It's about a stolen bike.

Custom built. Very hacky thing I've done is using white epoxy putty to glue the brake sensors. It's just a stock Merida with a expensive motor and hi-tech battery.

Sadly there has been a massive massive rise in bikes stolen in the central Auckland region, hundreds of them.
