Looked like some scooters are now showing up in Dunedin, centered around the stadium (and in the Leith River, lets just hope that is GPS playing up)
However Dunedin is currently showing as a non-serviced area, so guessing not live yet

I can only imagine how much fun the students are going to have finding interesting spots to deposit them.

Myself some friends and tourists we we're hosting were actually astounded by the number of them in use in the CBD on the weekend. Families and users everywhere.

Its also still low population which will impact that visually. I work in the CBD and getting into town in 18-20min from Kaiapoi vs the normal 35+ is a good indicator of the decrease in population holidays bring. There are more parked outside the offices near us now than up until late November. Prior to that they were gone by 10am.

Sure they have everyone wanting to give them a go on startup. But there is still a staple patronage that I see regularly used between offices and lunch runs to the supermarket

I can actually see these being used appropriately in Dunedin.

Largely flat geography, lots people walking a couple km. People getting into the green ev thing.

People trashing them would be disapproved off by the student body.

How long before someone tries to see if they have enough power to get to the top of Baldwin Street, and how fast they come down.

I hope they will be available in Mosgiel; all flat (compared with hills in Dunedin) and wide streets that are used to the larger elderly population and their electric mobility scooters

I expect within one day some twit will crash on Baldwin street and the ODT will moan about students to their blue rinse brigade subscribers. The nz herald will pick it up and more Auckland parents will say that's why we don't want our kids going to otago.

Not sure where you live and work, but I work next to Hagley Park and can 100% assure you they're very well used indeed by business people travelling to and from work, as well as going out and through hagley park at lunchtime.

They've also spawned many commuters on their own black sleek looking e-scooters as well.

I wonder if the hills are one reason why they aren't in Wellington, and only in the Hutt, as I imagine hill driving will burn out the motors more quickly. Wonder if they will make it up the steepest NZ street. Can see races going down it.  If people are using them regularly for work etc, then i would probably make sense for them just to buy one/ They are not exactly cheap to hire, so there must be a lot of money in renting them out

Fair enough. I live and work in Halswell, saw them every day, now rarely, so perhaps that shows the fun factor and novelty has worn off, and the regular users are regularly using, and the CBD does make sense if thats the case

They've come to dunedin at the right time if they don't want bad press on day one. There are literally no students here at the moment. It's a ghost town for students until early Feb. Guessing there will still be some high school kids crashing which get in the paper tomorrow, but generally I don't expect any big issues for a month or two.

A few have made it up riverstone in Upper Hutt which is reasonably cheap. They are great for getting home from the train station as public transport out here is rare after 7pm, the price isn't too bad cheaper than a cab home for me
