Google are offering free keys for Google Earth Pro.

Previously the product was sold for $400 a year.

Link describing the deal ...  http://gizmodo.com/google-earth-pro-is-now-free-1682987518

Link to sign up for free key ... https://geoauth.google.com/gev0/free_trial.html

I am in the process of installing it at the moment.

My registration went through OK.. It is probably just a temporary problem.

TBH. I don't really know. Originally, Pro used to have higher resolution images. But, I am not sure that is still true.

I did a quick search and found this...

Google Earth (free version)

Intended for personal, non-commercial use, the free version of Google Earth sends you on an interactive, 3D exploration of the planet through terabytes of aerial and satellite imagery. With the free version of Google Earth, you can:

Zoom in on locations
View 3D terrain and buildings
Search for hotels and dining locations
View dozens of other point-of-interest data layers
Layer multiple searches, save results to folders, and share with others
Import GPS data, which allows you to read tracks and waypoints from select GPS devices

Google Earth Pro

For professional and commercial uses, Google Earth Pro is the ultimate research, presentation, and collaboration tool for geographic information. If you're using Google Earth for business purposes, Pro is the version for you. Pro includes all features available in the free version of Google Earth, plus the following:

An area-measurement tool (that measures square feet, miles, acres, radii, etc.)
Data importing, which allows you to ingest up to 2,500 locations by address or by latitude/longitudinal coordinates
The highest resolution printing and saving capabilities, which enable larger, clearer printouts (up to 4,800 pixels)
Movie maker, which allows you to export movies of zooms and tours
GIS data import, which allows you to drag and drop SHP files, GeoTiffs, etc.
Premium printing, which enables you to print high-resolution images up to 11" x 17" (4,800 pixels)

One thing.. they did seem to want an answer for every field.

So, even if you have to make something up. Make sure to to fill it all in.

Filled in all the fields, and tried again to double check, same error.

You need to register with a company email address. Mine went through with an .org address.

On the errors, just hit the back button and submit again.  I've done it twice now and both went through on the second attempt.

Pro lets you record route movies to full HD, so there's that.

This used to be $400 a year for commercial customers I believe.

Yup...my employer uses it worldwide, so now being offered for free has made the finance team happier, one less bill ;)
