Hi All
Got a link to Qeeq in my email yesterday
It appears to offer cheap subscriptions to some streaming services - like netflix and Amazon Prime (NZ$12 for 6 months)
Can anyone confirm if it is for real or is it a scam?

Thanks

If it sounds to good then it tends to be a scam or a service selling share plan places or stolen accounts.

Just looking at the ad you can clearly see "Netflix shared account"

Well it turns out it was $16 for 6 months of Amazon Prime ($12 was for a diamond membership).

I've ordered it and I'll let you know if it is a scam or not.

They have reasonable-looking terms and conditions and seem to be running a multi-tier membership scheme where you gain points (by Liking or downloading the app etc) to increase your membership level.
I'm just saying this as evidence that it may not be a scam - a lot of trouble to go to if you just want to scam people out of a few dollars. Maybe I'm naive. We'll see.

Linux:

@Rikkitic Below is a quote in the contact us

is a trusted and fast-growing car hire online platform that helps you to expand your visibility and grants access to potential customers around the world. Become our supply partners now!

Now just reading the above would you ask if it is a legit site selling Netflix , Prime ETC .... shared accounts

Please tell me what Car hire has to do with Netflix , Prime?

The site may well be shady. I wasn't commenting on that. OP asked a question and it deserves a serious answer. This was a serious answer by @tripp: If it sounds to good then it tends to be a scam or a service selling share plan places or stolen accounts.

Here is your answer: Really you have to ask if this is a Legit!

Your answer has a sneering tone that implies that even asking such a question is evidence of lack of intelligence or judgement. You probably are not aware of it. My point is just that such a reply doesn't add anything. It is possible to convey information without suggesting someone is stupid for asking it.

I guess if I had received more "measured" responses, I would have given them more weight.

I have put a temporary hold on my card and will see what sort of attempts are made to take funds off it.

(I had assumed that the company may have taken a decision to diversify away from rental cars and towards stay-at-home services because of Covid 19)

It's certainly a confused/confusing looking site.

It does look like primarily a car rental site - with a pile of strange, extra, unrelated stuff chucked in.

Oddest mix of 'services' on a site that I have seen for quite some time.

Just to be a pain. With Netflix, Amazon, Spotify the shared "family" plans tend to have t&c's around living at the same address.

So my line of thinking is:
1) these people have purchased family accounts and selling access.
2) stolen logins from people and upper the accounts to family and selling others access.

Also from what I saw of the website they are buying cheap Spotify from countries where it doesn't cost as much as NZ/au/us etc. This is why you can't add these to your current account and they send you a login and password for a new account.

I found only one news article that seems to explain what the site 'could' be about:

https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/car-rental-platform-easyrentcars-evolves-its-brand-to-qeeq-for-more-travel-services-and-daily-savings-301040762.html

No idea on the authenticity of this 'article' of course.

Well, I have now cancelled my credit card and asked for a new one.
This results in having no access to credit or EFTPOS for the next week.
It also means that I will have to register my new credit card details with many providers who routinely charge my card.

Having done that, I am not at all convinced that this is a scam website - particularly after reading the article recently posted, which supports my own research.
My interest was in Amazon Prime, which was not a "shared" deal.

VISA confirmed that there was a "pending" transaction for the amount of the subscription. They will raise a "dispute" on this with the provider.

It will be interesting to hear what they conclude and I will let you all know. Maybe you won't find in necessary to belittle anyone seeking to use this service in the future - or maybe you will be able to say "I told you so"

*Rolls eyes* drama much.

Don't get mad at us, you came here asking if it looked like a scam, a number of us have seen things like this in the past and told you what we have seen before.
The article above is a press release and not a review or a "news" site. People send these releases to website to publish. You can see this with the "if you want an interview contact xxxx " at the end of the article.

It seems that you're annoyed at us because you fell for it even when you knew it "might" be dodgy.

I have no idea if it's real but I do know there is no way they are NOT breaking the streaming services t&c's with offering shared accounts (limited to people at the same address) or buying cheaper plans from other countries that have a lower monthly plan due to that countries economy (i.e. VPN to turkey or Brazil as Spotify etc is like $4nz a month).

We didn't cancel your credit card so you have no access to credit/EFTPOS, this is your own doing.

Also only having a single card with a single bank seems a bit silly and all eggs in one basket too.

I agree that my cancelling my credit card is no fault of anyone on this forum.
I apologise for the tone of my last post.

Just a bit put out by the arrogance of some of the responses I received.

As I said, if I find out anything from VISA's investigations, I will let you all know.
