Hey there,

Olympics are getting close! Anyone know where we'll find the channels? Ie. which transponders? Because so far I can't find anything...

In the Sky decoder, I should hope so! But this is receiving Sky through Windows Media Center in an HTPC. So you have to manually scan for and enable the channels you want.

Just received an email from Freeviewshop.co.nz saying there will be a 3D Olympics channel broadcasting from Optus D1.

Here's the text from the email:
We will have nearly 24/7 Coverage of the Olympics on Prime TV and there is also a 3D Olympics channel broadcasting on OPTUS D1 Now!

To receive the 3D channel you must have a Full High Definition Satellite Receiver. For the best possible picture quality, we recommend you choose an Ultraplus HD receiver and you will also need a 3D HDTV:

Doing a scan on 12648MHz V Pol SR:10500 with an HD receiver will find the new channel for you

Hmmm, that sounds pretty cool! I'm not getting any signal off of that transponder though? Isn't it for Channel 9 in Aus? Is anyone else receiving it yet?

My transponder file has:
12648,V,10500,34,S2;QPSK

And I'm using Ku-Circular, LOF1 = 10750

I'm still most interest in knowing where to scan for Sky's extra sport channels though...

SKY Sport subscribers will have access to five purpose-built Olympic channels (SKY Channels 131, 132, 133, 134, 135) offering continuous live sport coverage 24 hours per day, each and every day of the Games. All five channels are simulcast in SD and HD.SKY will also offer in depth and behind-the-scenes interviews with New Zealand athletes, as well as highlights from premier events and medal winning moments.

SKY Sport subscribers will also have the bonus of a 24 hour Olympic News Channel (SKY Channel 139) with the latest from London.

For SKY Sport MY SKY HDi and MY SKY+ subscribers with an HD access ticket and HD ready television, there will be additional access to three further HD channels (SKY Channels 136, 137, 138) offering live Olympic action.

I don't know any transponder info or similar though sorry.

What type of receiver do you have?
The email stated that you must have a Full HD satellite receiver (i.e DVB-S2, I think) such as the UltraPlus 900HD or UltraPlus X-9200HD. Not to mention, you also need a 3DTV.

Yeah I saw that. I don't use a freeview box, but I have a DVB-S2 tuner card in an HTPC, which we use for receiving our TV. I have Full HD Sky channels etc through it.

just had a look for the extra Olympic channels on my HTPC had to add a transponder and remove another one (unfortunately i didn't save the specifics) below is my .ini file

So most of the Olympic Channels have been put onto existing transponders. And 12295 seems to have changed from a DVB-S transponder to a DVB-S2 transponder? Providing all the a whole bunch of the HD channels.

So, now the only channels I can't find, are the SD versions of Sky Sport 9-11. Because WMC can't process MHEG5 epg data, I have to use the guide data from all SD channels for my HD channels.

Also, part of what got me started scanning new channels etc, is that I seem to have lost Sky Sport 3 HD. I get an error telling me there's no signal when I try to view it. Has anyone else experienced this? Are you still receiving it?

Sky Sport 3 will disappear and be replaced by an HD olympic channel for the duration of the olympics , which maybe why you cant get reception.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I am in the process of rebuilding my HTPC and have the following S2 transponders (which appears to cover all HD channels off including the new Sky ones).

12268,H,22500,23,DVB-S2
12398,V,11909,23,DVB-S2
12295,H,22500,23,DVB-S2
12331,H,22500,23,DVB-S2
12358,H,22500,23,DVB-S2

I am just in the process of scanning all transponders (S and S2) and hopefully will find the EPG listings for all.

Will post up my results.

I've been meaning to ask this question for some time... How does sky populate the HD channels with guide data? Does it bind the SD channel data to the HD channel, or is it grabbing the data of the HD channel in a different manner?

Really?? That's weird. I use DVBLink TVSource for viewing sky channels in Media Center. When I scan for EPG, sources are found for each of the HD sky channels, but they never show any data in Media Center. So I map the EPG data from the SD equivalents.

I thought it was the same issue as exists with NZ DVB-T Freeview - the 7 day guide data is streamed in mheg5, and WMC can't deal with it. And only Now and Next shows are given in the standard format.

Do you know why I don't receive guide data for my sky channels in media center then?
