Gidday,

I lost another external HDD yesterday so am heading into buying a NAS. As a heavy Plex user, the Western Digital My Cloud PR4100 looks perfect. Is is hardware optimised for Plex transcoding and seems to be a pretty good price point - in the US. However, the issue is no one sells them in NZ. The only model you can get shipped to NZ from Amazon and the like is the diskless model which is the worse value for money. That said, as I'm desperate so I will probably head that way anyway. The question is, will i be able to swap out the cable and have the PSU switch 240v ok? Or could I just buy another power adapter with the same plug and output? I'm not very electronically savvy so wouldn't want to blow anything up.

Power details:

19 Volts
4.74 Amps
90 Watts

I guess the other question is, how soon will this be available from NZ retailers? I'd much rather buy local in case of hardware issues.

Cheers,

Matthew

I can't brain today. I have the dumb.

The vast majority of external power supplies these days are multi voltage from 100VAC - 240VAC. It's been a long time since I've seen a power supply that's only 110V or 240V.

Assuming this is the case it's a simple matter of buying a NZ clover leaf power lead to replace the US one.
