Hi all

Will the new MySky2 STB output HD via its component connection?  How about some of the FTA STBs?

If so, will the output be simutaneous with the HDMI HD output or is it a 'one or the other' situation?

Cheers

Certfied FreeView boxs will only output downscaled (to 576i) video via the analog component output. I think you can be certain that the MySkyHDi will follow suit. This is a requirment of the copyright holders not the Broadcasters (ie Sky or TVNZ/CanWest).

Comments from Sky to date indicates they will enforce the ICT flag, which is in contrast to other countries(US/UK/Europe) where a repreave has been given till around 2012 due to the large number of non HDCP/HDMI sporting HD capable displays exist.

HDCP on HDMI and the ICT flag are similar but different.

HDCP means that only HDMI inputs of displays not recorders will be able to pass traffic from the STB to a display, whereas ICT is a flag the broadcasters are requested to operate to signal to the STB if it can pass HD material at full resolution to the analog component output or force the STB to downscale it.
