I currently have a mysky in the lounge and a tv in our master bedroom (about 25 to 30 metres apart). Historically I have used the RF out on the MYSKY to distribute the picture and sound to the bedroom TV, worked well on a 21 inch tv but picture is (not surprisingly) only average when I put in a 32 inch LCD but functional for the purpose

Now as I am upgrading to MySKYHD one issue is that there is no longer an RF out so I will have to run some new wiring between the two rooms. It seems to me I have a couple of choices:

First is to run three component and two audio cables to the TV. Gets high quality signal to the room, wont be able to view Sky HD but I can live with that

Second is to run an HDMI cable and presumably have an HDMI splitter (if such a thing exists) that splits the HDMI Sky signal to the lounge TV and the bedrom TV. Means that I would get HD but I suspect the cost might be large by the time that I buy the splitter (if one exists) and a long HDMI Cable (which I had heard can cause problems)

Are there any better solutions?

Found HDMI spliter at rapollo so it is feasible, main issue then would be the long run

You could run a splitter on the coax cable and split the signal into 3. That would mean you get Sky on the lounge tv and cystal clear 1,2,3 etc. on the other tvs.

That's fine if you're stuck in the 1980's with a 14" and want a crummy RF signal!

I've never personally used an HDMI cable over 30m but it's easily done but unfortunately won't be cheap!

Firstly you need a HDMI splitter to split the HDMI signal. Expect to probably pay around $200 for one of these. You then need to run the HDMI cable - you can either buy several lengths of 15-20m HDMI cables along with an amplifier (probably $50 or so) or you can buy 2 x HDMI baluns and run the HDMI signal over dual cat5e cable.

There isn't really a cheap option but I'm sure somebody like cyril7 can probably give you some good advice.

I would get a Hdmi Splitter 1 in 2 Out then one to your tv then run the hdmi over Cat5e with a Hdmi extender
these allow hdcp and go up 2 1080p and 25 meters will be no problem

Steves (sbiddle) advice is as good as it gets, none of these options are going to be cheap, pity Sky dont come up with a better deal on multiroom with just a standard box, ie MySkyHDi + MySky is $25 as currently charged, MySkyHDi + standard STB is say $5 which would cover the NDS licence and make use of all the old STBs that will start to abound. At least you can have component SD on your 2nd TV and full channel independance.

Thanks for the advice everyone

Looked at the options and my current plan is to go for the 2 hdmi baluns and the cat cable. My research also uncovered the matrix switch / splitters so I can run all my sources into the splitter and have two independent outputs, that means I can get rid of all my boxes in the bedroom which is a great thing.

Now I just need to test whether the PS3 bluetooth remote works that far away!
