Hi Guys,

I have an older Bose Lifestyle system which I have just setup and although it works well, I am disappointed with the stereo spread in 5 speaker mode.

I have the Adaptiq headphone/microphone for setting up the speakers but unfortunately do not have the 2 DVDs to allow it to auto set speaker levels etc.

Has anyone used this and is it any good.

Any one with  a spare set of disks who wants to get rid of them would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried manually adjusting the levels?

I have a three year old lifestyle system with Adaptiq, however I can't comment on how effective it is because I set it up as soon as I got the system so I have never experienced it without Adaptiq configured.

Are the DVDs for the test sounds? I think mine has the test sounds built in, but older systems may be different.

Hi

Yes it would appear the tones on new ones could be built in.

The older versions (PS28, 38, 48) all require 2 disks. 1 to allow you to tell if all speakers are set up correctly and 1 using the microphone/headphone to do the auto calibration of the speakers to suit their placement in the room.

looks like I am in trouble if I can not get the disks

Thanks

wow that would be fantastic.

I think all lifestyle systems would be the same.

I understand they are DVDs and would be very happy to pay for your trouble and postage to Auckland or could accept them via internet.

Although I am almost 80 and worked in electronics all my life this is my first experience with Bose system

Thanks

Hi Nitrotech,

From what I can find on the net the Lifestyle 12 did not come with the setup disks so unless you got the adaptiq system as well you may not have the disks

Thanks

Eddie

Hi Guys,

Not having much luck. Bose advise they do not have the DVDs available.

I am very unhappy with the performance of the system as even Dolby Digital video is very poor with most of the sound coming from the center speaker and almost nil from left, right and rear.

I have obtained the special microphone used with the adaptiq audio setting system but have been unable to get the 2 DVDs that check the setup and then do a calibration and auto setup of the system.

PLEASE, anyone out there able to copy these DVDs for me.

They were used on Bose PS38, 48 and 321 and probably many others before Bose woke up to the fact they could build this into later models.

I am rather lost without them

Thanks

Eddie

I have a Lifestyle 28 (13 years old), with the headphones for AdaptIQ (not really a headphone I suppose...).

Not sure it had 2 DVDs, it definitely has one, which gets you to sit in three locations and plays a white noise sound through all five speakers, and something from the Bass module.

I can hunt around at home and see if I've got the DVD somewhere (I should do) and see if I can't make a copy of it.

That would be FANTASTIC.

I would be happy to cover your costs and could burn my own DVD from a file.

How do you find the 5 speaker surround on Video ?

Mine has 95% of sound coming from center and almost nothing from others.

My previous system (Sony) immersed you in surround but had no center speaker.

Downsizing has its disadvantage !

Thanks

Eddie

No worries, I probably wont get a chance to look for it and rip the DCD until the weekend. I'll probably just send it to you on a USB (or dropbox?).

I find the surround on mine really good.

Thanks, greatly appreciate the disk.

Set up the system ok but frankly I am not sure if it sounds better anyway.

The only answer I currently have is to reduce the level of the front center speaker which has the effect of pushing the sound out to L & R.

Re surround sound, just found out Lightbox not currently  supporting 5.1

Again thanks for help.
