I have the older 55" 7000 series which is a nice TV but the stand on it is ridiculously wide.

They have gone a step backwards with the 8000 series and made it wider at 979mm.

Does anyone know if the stand can be adjusted to make a narrower footprint? (Sony support dont know of course)

Reason Ive an entertainment unit which is 1m wide, so will probably have to modify the unit if we go with the 8000 series.
Some of their models you can, but seems they only go wider!

Go in the shop and have a look at the bottom for feet cutouts.

Crazy eh. Brilliant TV, stupid stand. The stand is likely the simplest part of the TV, yet they didnt consider that many, if not most cabinets/entertainment units are 1m in width.

Its not like an 800mm width is  going to be much less stable.

Instead of modifying the top how about something like these (whats the foot size in mm?) I'd say the height and length on the white one are transposed:

OK well I HAD to have the 55"; only $200 more than the edge lit 49".

Am getting a wall mount as you can see the duck tape fix is temporary.
