At freitasm's suggestion I will start this as a seperate topic

From another thread...
Mattv:
nudge: !!!  OMG !!!
I just started getting warning about running out of space on c:
I am running a 40gb solid state drive as OS.  Overkill I know, but it keeps it really quiet and boots up quick.
Anyway, I DL a folder analysis program as I couldn't see where the space was being used - even with everything unhidden is only added up to about 15gb.

The analysis program found this path... C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue
It had 27gb of the multiple occurances of the same file (I've just deleted them all) but from memory the file was called:
AppCrash_mcg....exe dating back to when Win7 was installed and about 10 occurances a day.

What's this about and whats it doing soaking up my HDD.  What's crashing?

OK I accept it is beta and that it may keep crashlogs etc, can I schedule to delete the files somewhere, or can I tell Win to put the files on another drive.

I guess I could write a script or something to periodically delete them

That problem resolved, I am off to get the new video card

I found this the other day too. Is your error somethin like this?

I have 7000 installed on a 25GB partition and each error takes up about 25MB on the disc so my drive was being filled very quickly. Additionally Window Error Reporting was naturally trying to send each error back to Microsoft so was completely clogging my network and using my all my bandwidth. You can at least change the WER settings to stop it sending errors for this application to fix that side of it but the files will still be being saved and filling the drive.

The app creating the error is mcGlidHost.exe and has something to do with the EPG data over the air. When watching live tv one error is getting created every minute or two for me. I should point out that I have DVB-T (freeview and SKY via DVBSBridge) as well as DVB-S. I have merged all three sources in the guide for each channel and set it up so it uses the DVB-S data as the EPG source but DVB-T tuners are the preferred "watch" tuners. I think the error is possibly caused by some sort of clash between the different EPG sources ie EIT and MHEG now/next. I have since reinstalled 7000 in the hope of doing soem more testing, maybe setting it up differently (and possibly disabling inband for MHEG if I can) but haven't had time yet. (I've gone back to VMC for now as it is my main mediacenter pc and used most of the day)

I posted a question on the Microsoft TechNet forum but have had no reply. Was going to post here or on The Green Button this weekend but you've beaten me to it!

There is another discussion at http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=714708&pid=590414250&st=15&#entry590414250 which indicates it may be caused by our good old MHEG5 which I think is also used in the UK? If I turn on MHEG5 while in the 7MC settings the error rate goes from 1 every couple of minutes to 4 or 5 a minute! If you watch the folder where the WER queued errors are kept it can be quite scary. (NB I do have kb961367 installed)

If you come up with any solution please let me know!

Anybody else  getting anything like this?

Just deleted 46GB of Junk from the offending directory.

I did notice last nite the furious internet activity, as well as a bunch of related stuff.  Disabling Guide Listings Download in the Media Center icon in the taskbar made a difference, so there is some relationship to that as well.

Have turned off Customer Improvement Program, and WER as well.

Haven't seen anything back in either folder 30 mintues after emptying it, so I've certainly slowed it down.

Yeah the mcGlidHost.exe process is used for the loading of EPG data over the air. Unforutnately only EIT data for the moment... Freeview on DVB-S uses EIT for the data so you could get it if you had a DVB-S tuner in your machine.
There is something on the way though for loading our own data into MCE just like before! :)

Cheers for creating the new topic,

I have read multiple other threads regarding the same problem.  One seems to have a MS insider that says they are aware of the problem and are working it.....

Does anybody else here see the irony in having to disable error reporting to make the beta useable

OK so I'v e turned off WER (I think) is that the "Don't check for solutions" bit in the action centre.  Is this all that is required.  I am concerned about the amount of bandwidth, I am forever going my limit and this an't gonna help none

Turning off Windows Error Reporting (WER) appears to resolve the issue.

Haven't had anything new in the folder since turning it off.

Agree.  I turned it off last night, cleared the folder, watched tv and movies for a few hours and left MC going over night.
Still nothing in the folders.
Let hope that one is solved ;-)

Cheers, I'll give it a go again next week. Did you just turn off WER for mcGlidhost itself or did you manage to turn it off completely?

Fix is up:

http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/330936.aspx

Now/Next works for me. Oddly it seems that some channels it seems to have listings for more than just the next shows. And after about 12hrs from the current time there are slots for the upcoming programs, but all the program names are full stops ie ".". Wierd - but I seem to recall reading somewhere about the freeview EPG and full stops?

Aaaarrrrrgghhhhh!

This update now shows in Windows Update in Windows 7.  I downloaded it without paying too much attention and now it has screwed my EPG via Sky setup!  Uninstalling the update doesn't seem to undo the changes!!!

Now I'm going to have to go though the entire TV signal set up again to get everything back in order!

Be warned...
