Have looked at the Handbrake forums, but they are not that friendly (in terms of finding settings: not the people). Thought it might be a good idea to have those of you who have been using the app for some time post your preferred settings to transcode FreeviewHD so others can try them on their systems.

I have not had that much success in the times I have dabbled with the app. A lot of green screens. Thanks for your time if you do assist

A good idea citizen G'Kar.

I didn't have any real success with Handbrake prior to release 0.9.4 which became available late November. I haven't really experimented enough to want to publish preferred settings yet - if I did I would probably find a useful tweak the following day. Give me a few more weeks, before I decide what I'm happy with.

However to start-off I did an encode using the NORMAL preset, and the results were quite acceptable.

I always use the latest SVN build unless its reported to have a major problem, its a lot faster than 0.9.4
I simply use H264 for video and both AAC/AC3 for audio and change the bitrates/CRF depending on the source. Decomb is always ticked for me. Normal is the base preset that i start my alterations from.

You have to play around, do some test recordings and give it a go on different bitrates. If you're getting green screens/messed up audio you often have a dodgy TS file which it cant handle properly.

In those circumstances I find that running the TS file through TS-Doctor first will often help.
