I know this is not exactly to do with HTPC, but maybe someone has seen this before; can't find much on Google about it.

If I highlight an HD media file from YouTube fro Windows Explorer, I keep getting a qedit.dll system error box & Windows Explorer hangs. I am forced to alt+ctrl+del & kill the Explorer application, then reopen it.

It only seems to happen with Youtube files. FreeviewHD records are fine. Any other media file extension, other than HD.avi are fine.

As I've just reverted back to an earlier Ghost image & reinstalled from there, I can't really say where this occurred -as I've installed al ot of programmes in a short space of time. Although I have installed some security add-ons (BetterPrivacy & NoScript) for Firefox, but don't see how this could cause the problem. I mention these as I now also have the issue on my desktop, to which I have also installed these add-ons.

Will use system restore to see if this has just occurred, but am D/L the latest episode of Stargate Universe, so will have to wait. Just thought I would see if anyone else has had a similar issue. Cheers.

Just an update. I have discovered that the CoreAVC 2.0.0 codec installation package has caused this issue. I went back to an earlier Ghost image & individually reinstalled from there, & this issue reappeared after the codec install. Think I will go back to PowerDVD or give ffdshow DVXA another go.

Seems unusual that no one else has encountered this problem, though.
