I've been lurking here for a little while now, so I thought I might as well introduce myself.

My name's Andre Alessi, and I currently work for TelstraClear in a business provisioning role.  Previously I provided tier 2 support for the Telecom Faults call centre.

I've been a gamer since my father bought me a Commodore 16 as a kid (back when software piracy involved a stereo with two tape decks!) followed quickly by an Amstrad 6128.  I've gradually worked my way up towards a PC that does exactly what I want, which is listed in my signature below (and yes, she's named after that Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins.)  I'm a mostly self-taught tinkerer though, and always looking for new hardware and software tips.

I've played a fair number of games in my time, with a preference for RPGs and MMOs.  As of today, I have active subscriptions in Lord of the Rings Online, EVE Online, Age of Conan, World of Warcraft, Champions Online, and my latest obsession, Star Trek Online.  I've also played several other MMOs for extended periods.

I'm that most awkward of party guests, a philosophy graduate, though I also spend a year studying web design before realising I was awful at it.  Ultimately I hope to leave all this corporate nonsense behind and spend my day philosophizing for a living.

I'm based in Auckland and spend far too much time on Twitter.

EDIT: Might have jumped the gun on the signature.  Here's Morrigan's specs:

My best friend at the time had a Commodore 64 when I had my 16. I was so insanely jealous of him and his ability to have more than 16 colours on the screen!
