Hi,
I have a toshbiba laptop which is 2 or 3 years old,
the screen recently  stopped working so i had it looked at by a computer repair man who thinks the graphics card needs replaced.

If i was to buy one would it be very hard to install myself?
Also, when buying a graphics card, will i need a certain type or would most be compatible with my laptop?

Thanks to anyone who can offer any help,
Cheers

Just to clarify, does he 'think' it needs replacing or 'knows' it needs replacing.

Replacing anything on a laptop (excluding RAM) can be a very difficult process, and quite often it is easier/cheaper/less frustrating to buy a new laptop.

If you want, you can try calling Toshiba and pleading your case with them however if the laptop has been opened by an unauthorised repair agent, they may not help you at all.

Yea he knows it needs replaced

I think i might be better off getting him to do the repairs then,  i was just going to try save myself some money if it was something i could do myself.

Cheers for the  help

Correct me if i'm wrong experts but i've not seen laptops with replacable gfx cards as they're all onboard chips so replacing one isn't as simple as buying a new chip and plugging it in i'd have thought you'd be better off buying a new or 2nd hand replacement.
