so.... my last laptop was going to cost to much to fix so im now im the market for a new one
I probably only want to spend around $800-$1000 what kind of specs should i be looking for at that price?

My last one was toshiba and i was quite happy with that so at this stage i was planning to just get the toshiba in that price range

also, in my short time browsing online ive seen there are a lot of online computer specialists shops are these generally all legit? or are some dodgey? and do they work out any cheaper than say noel leeming or harvey norman?

You'll be pushing it for a good toshiba at that price. I'd check Acers they're as good now ...

Check Ascent.co.nz
They have a Sony, sorry can not remember the model number, which is listed @ $1099.99. Specs seem OK but you might want to find one and check it out.

personally, with your budget just go for one you think looks nice.

most new zealand online stores are legit if they have a store you can go to,
with an address and also a phone number.

However always be carefull!

I have been shopping around for a macbook air,
Just bought it, and once I went home I changed my mind.
I bought it in such a rush because I got so annoyed in thinking which one to buy,
now I have to sell it for a loss of over $200...

So it pays to make sure and decide clearly before flipping out the wallet....

Asus Laptops seem pretty sweet, If you look around at comments on laptops on the internet every single laptop brand has its "flaws" nearly none of them have a perfect track record. Except for Asus, they are cheap and reliable in my opinion.
