Hi there,

Only new to the forum.

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this article.

This is the scenario:

I have a computer controlled piece of industrial equipment. Its german built and about 10 years old.

It has a Lauer Industrial-PC screen with Award BIOS v4.50g

Every second time i turn on the machine i get the error:

"Hard disk(s) fail (80)
Floppy disk(s) fail (c0)"

Every other second time the machine boots up.

Any ideas what the 80 and c0 codes mean. I tried searching the net but there were too many answers.

Many thanks.

Possibly the CMOS battery is dead, so it is losing it's configuration.
Has it always done this, or is it a recent fault?

Sounds like loosing config / or drives not configured correctly.
Also the "80" error could be the HDD cable - i.e. it's not an "80 conductor" cable.

This is an industrial machine, so i'm lothed to play with it myself. Unfortunately I didn't get any software with it as it is 10 years old.

Is there some one experienced in South Auckland that can take a look and possibly back up the program that is on there?

Cheers
Ian

Do you know what OS the machine uses? Does it have a floppy drive or similar type device with which to store backups?
