hi
i have just got a new studio 15 laptop and i would
like to know how i can transfer the data from my old
internal hd to my new laptop hd externally.

old laptop was a dell inspiron 1501, it got wet so i through it away
but salvaged the internal 120gb hd. how can i extract the data
from this hd to my new dell studio 15 hd?

is there some sort of cable i use?
i believe both hard drives are the sata type.

USB to SATA cable with a power adapater like this http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=348053 should do the trick, you can probably find cheaper ones on Trademe or Sella. Just double check what type of connector your old drive has first.

Maybe worth purchasing a 2.5 external enclosure, then after youve copied imortant data over youre left with a 120GB external HDD.
