I got a up sell about 2 months ago from Telecom / Spark.

I called up to check my account and upgrade up internet to unlimited (currently on ADSL 1). all good.
The lady on the phone then told me i could get VDSL and offered to set it up.. i was like are you 120% certain ??? s we live about 4 km's from the exchange on a farm.
she went yes! do you want to install!

yes yes yes! was my reply.

2 days later new modem turns up and the tech turns up...
say no way in hell is this going to work..

cut to 2 weeks ago, same up sell when i called.

cut to 1 week later my mum and dad had the same up sell and yes they cant get it either.
cut to late last week, my neighbour also had the same offer and took it, no go.

So question: do Spark / Telecom do random offers in the hope that they may hit it lucky?
What do you think the go is?

What does the Chorus coverage map say? Are you within a VDSL2 coverage area?

no coverage on the map.... so i dont know why they say we can....

Honestly - if you can, forge ahead with the free install, as I've found that even your ADSL sync will slightly benefit from having the VDSL RJ45 Jackpoint installed, let alone the splitter and CAT5e/6 cabling.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

We installed the splitter some time ago. and yes its a lot better!

Its just annoying me that they are trying to sell something that they cant supply.
if it was just a one off then cool but its not.
