Actually, we get a lot of customers in who's phones have stopped sending tones. probably nothing terrible, we just go into the menu and switch them on again. Have you found the tones in your menu and switched them on again? If they ask you to put them 'always on' thats a good way to go, as a lot of phones have a setting where you can send them during a call, and that's more a hassle than anything else. let me know if you haven't done it yet, I can probably find the menu for you. How do you find your Treo? They are too smart for me so far!
