I ordered a connection with bigpipe a couple of weeks ago, and was told connection date was 6/7 Wednesday which was a 10day wait from order date. We were okay with this but it's now 11/7 which was our new connection date (chorus 'missed' us) but no internet in sight. We just want some ADSL how long does it take!

Side note: There's currently no internet at the property because we are new tenants. Using mobile data in the mean time is no fun :-(

Chorus suck is the answer to 99% of queries like this.

I'm sure BigPipe will chase it up for you, but you're probably just at the mercy of Chorus.

I was afraid that would be the answer. We've had mixed experience with chorus because I originally signed up for VDSL with MyRepublic and chorus came round pretty quick to try sort it, but due to wiring issue we could only get ADSL, and had to go to another provider who do ADSL. The experience this time round has dragged out and tedious. My fingers are crossed it gets sorted in a day or two!

"Chorus have let us know you have now been connected but we cannot see an active connection at your address, can you please confirm you have internet?"

Nope!

"We have lodged a fault with Chorus to look into this Thursday".

How does a Chorus tech advise of a successful connection .. when there is still no internet?!

Is the DSL led on on your modem?

This will show if there is a connection to the Chorus Dslam

Is the modem configured correctly for Bigpipe, the correct Username and Password for the internet?

I presume Bigpipe will have supplied you with those details

I just checked, you can have any username and password in the fields just not blank.

What modem are you using, and have you checked its configuration?

No DSL light at all, which is my concern. Have followed the setup, but by default all those options are selected on my modem already. Tried different jackpoints and another modem.

I had a similar issue recently after moving house. Chorus swore up and down the connection was live, but my modem got no signal whatsoever from any of the jackpoints in the house. The solution turned out to be pretty embarrassing - I was plugging my modem into every telephone socket I could find (old school wide "phone plug") instead of the single RJ11 socket (a bit smaller, square) on one of the wallplates. Turned out the house was wired with a master filter (or at least a filter built into the wallplate) and the only DSL signal was on that small socket. Had never had a house with anything other than the old-school jacks before so had no idea.

Probably not your issue, but I share my embarrassing story just in case it helps you or anyone else...

Turns out we were connected on the 12th, albeit very late. There was a box on the neighbors flat (block of connected flats), where something was switched off, details a bit sparse as I wasn't home at the time, but as soon as it was switched on then connection came through straight away.
