Does anyone know when the Samsung Ace is going to be released? I had read it was supposed to be out in April, but it's the last day of the month and I don't see it on Telecom's website.

Thanks.

I too was lead to believe the release was imminent, but Telecom is well known for delaying handset launches, or even canning the release of handsets altogether, well into the process (Though I would say this particular phone is just waiting on all stock to be reflashed with Telecom specific firmware etc).

Such an ugly phone though!

I think you'll find that the phone is available for sale from today.

You're right Tony, it is fugly! I was originally going to get a BlackBerry but not enough data on either of the plans unfortunately.  I thought about the Touch, but I don't know that I'd cope without real buttons.

I have a Palm Treo 650 which I use as a modem from time to time, but it is cdma and I need a phone for going to Aus shortly. I just cheked the Samsung features and it says it can't be used as a modem?

"*The Mobile Broadband feature does not mean the phone can be used as a modem"

So on my trusty Treo (30 months now - by far the longest survivor for me in twenty years)

I have

Camera
Video camera
SD slot
MP3 player
Bluetooth
Web access
Qwerty keyboard
Organiser
Remote Sync
Remote access (what a tiny screen, like looking at your pc through a keyhole)

What am I going to miss if I get a Samsung Ace?

Cheers

I took a look at the Samsung Ace today and I can get it on a plan for $225 or so.  It is a bit thinner than my Treo 650, with no Palm functionality, just thumbs and fingers.

Anybody got a lead into the "next" worldmode phone/pda that is coming through telecom?

Cheers
Bernard
