Ipad has wifi and cellular connectivity for data.

Previously used simcard with phone number as login, to Spark app to buy data plans, check balance etc.

Phone numbers now can't be used as login, so registered with email, all good.

Except, as I can't read texts, nor phone from ipad, I can't get the 4-digit confirmation code.

Tried doing this online from spark site, ie, logging in , but to add device need to again have confirmation code texted.

Tried a couple of apps to read/send texts so I could access the code, but couldn't get far as the apps required a confirmation code to set them up!

I usually use wifi for ipad, except when away on holiday when I use data out and about.

Short of tethering to phone, what can be done?

Tried chat on spark site, can't access ... tried phoning, no answer.

Cheers.

I always thought this whole think is badly thought out...

You will need to use another device for the sms.

You raise an interesting example use case that I'll raise next chance I get though.

Thanks, I did put the SIM in my iphone in hope to retrieve the confirmation code, but it still had all my old messages even after restarting the phone.   IN a hurry now as packing to go away, so didn't want to start messing with resetting my iphone (if that was necessary) will just use data on my cell for now.   Cheers.

This problem has been around since I had my ipad 2 and when Spark was still called telecom. I remember all sorts of problems when using the ipad 2 with telecoms mobile data because I couldn't receive txts on it, and didn't have a telecom network compatible phone to put the sim into.I recall I had to go into a telecom store to put it into one of their phones in order to get the txt to get it setup.  Probably a good 5-7 years ago, and even found an old post of mine with issues I was having with it so surprised it is still an issue. But then again, guessing not too many people would use one for data, without teathering it to a phone via wifi, which is now what I do... far easier and a saving of a couple of hundred on the ipad.
