Got fed up with Vodafone glitching out again and not letting me change my phone plan last night so signed up for a Spark prepay plan. Since I have an S20 I saw eSim was an option and selected it. I've set it up and also been billed for the prepay.

It wasn't and still isn't working, and I can't register for the MySpark thing using my number. I've just been on the live chat and they told me it takes 5 - 7 days to transfer between network providers.

Is this some kind of joke?? Years ago when I last did this sort of thing it took a couple of hours max with a physical sim. Surely in 2020 this kind of thing can be done near instantly? Does anybody have recent experience transferring from Vodafone (or other) to Spark and it taking 5 - 7 days?

Hi, I have always know porting a number, fixed wire on mobile between operators takes several days, as opposed to activating a SIM with any random number

Usually that would be related to shipment of the physical SIM, which obviously isn't required here.

Did you manage to place an order? If that was done and the port approved you can dial 0800 785 785 and it will bring the time forward for current time plus 2 hours if that makes sense?

Yep, received two emails, one with an invoice and the other stating an eSim has been reserved with a QR code needed to activate.

Will try call today.

All done (via another phone obviously..).

Much more helpful than the chatbot. As it happens I did a uni assignment (blog post format) last year about AI replacing humans and mentioned about dear Ivy ;)

Since I’m currently with Spark, I tried to use Spark’s chatbot Ivy to get a better deal from them, but it led to a conversation going around in circles. Ultimately, with Ivy unable to understand the value of the Vodafone deal, or even anything beyond a selection of pre-prepared responses, the conversation led to Ivy making way for a human.
