Hey Team,

Any idea on when the new iPhones will be able to use 5G?

Cheers

They can already, the problem is there isn't much 5G coverage on Spark currently

Hi there -

5G is enabled by default with the iPhone13 (like the 12) - I assume you have it setup on your account (it does automatically in the background after some time). If your still having troubl DM me your number.

regards, Gajan

the moment you turn it on.

5G coverage is very short range. so unlike 4G you can't build a tower and cover miles and miles of radius, so in order to cover 1km you'd need a few "towers". so they are concentrated in densely populated areas like CBD. even if you are in a 5G area there are numerous black spots.

was going to make a joke about something related but i thought better of it. not the right thread!

Interesting. I was in the Christchurch cbd on Friday and I couldn't get 5g.
I was looking at the spark website today and I saw that you can type in your imei and it will tell you if it supports 5G and my imei was not supported
I will try going into town again this week and try again

Thanks for the IMEI checker pointer - will get that looked into. The phone should just work [5G].
