Hi

Has anyone tried a video call on their XT phone to the UK?

Did they have success?

Also, can you place a video call on XT starting from the UK?

Cheers

Peter

Depends on the network.

Telecom site might be of some help to you

Thanks for that. Telecom have no rate available for video calling UK - NZ, so I assume we can only place calls NZ - UK.

I'm pretty confident the video call should work okay. The video is a bit grainy , but passable.

from the Telecom Website with the search term "video call price"

"When you're making a video call to Australia it's just $1.02 per minute, or just $2.04 per minute for calls to other international video calling destinations. "

so the answer is $2.04 a minute and it will work to "United Kingdom O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, 3 (H3G)" from the link given.

You'd have to check with the network at the other end to see if they support customer originated calls to NZ. This has nothing to do with Telecom NZ.

Thanks again

I ran all this past Telecom roaming - but they don't have an answer. Phone calls on XT originating from the UK are $2.49 per minute. I'm guessing video calls will be double that. Anyway, I'll find out after I do it.  Cheers.

By the way, does anyone suspect that the video signal won't work from that far away to NZ?

Cheers.

Are you trying to call a XT handset roaming or a UK handset on a UK network? You didn't make this clear.

The distance makes no difference, I've used video calling a number of times over the years while roaming on VF.

Not related to distance in anyway, Carriers need agreements in place for Video calling,

They use much more bandwidth than a normal voice call
