Does anyone know if Telecom plans to implement Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR) in NZ?

I guess this feature originated from the "called party pays" regime in the US. With free incoming calls in NZ, and Caller ID free to all now, I wouldn't hold your breath for this service.

em: and Caller ID free to all now

Free to all? For cellular communications devices maybe, but not land lines.

Telecom website

"$3.95 a month (including GST) or $2.50 a month (including GST) if taken as part of our Anytime plan."

I would rather the call never gets to my phone. And the caller gets a message I dont accept calls from blocked numbers.

No number is shown if it is an Anonymous caller.

Yes, but the phone has rung and I have been interuppted to go look at the display, landlines dont have a "no" or "red" button on them to make the thing stop ringing so all you can do is stand there waiting for it to stop, and some people are very persistant when they call waiting 50-60 seconds, some even longer.

plus it would be nice if these people were told just why they were not getting an answer and an option to unblock their number and to get put thru like the service in the states offer people. A lot of people in offices cant use the 0197 and 0196 codes to control the display of their numbers.

It is quite annoying on cellphones, to have someone ring you, and you miss the call, and can't ring them back as the caller has their ID blocked.

Slightly offtopic, do the <choice of emergency service> get shown blocked numbers if you call 111?

I used to own a Nokia 2280 and that had a feature that can block numbers but I've been told that they took off the feature (and I don't know why) it was a good little feature coz I've had like a couple of people phone harassing me and I just blocked them but however I tried a little experiment by blocking the home phone and then ringing my cellphone and I dont know why but it just went to my voicemail and they would be able to leave voice messages.
