Hi All,

You may be aware that we used to host the NZ CentOS Mirror ftp.wicks.co.nz.  This server is no longer in our network and is now not considered local / non rated traffic.

The good news is that we have setup our own linux mirror - which can be found at mirror.xnet.co.nz - it is available over IPv4 and IPv6, either HTTP or FTP, and is unmetered.

We are slowly building the content available on it, but as of writing this post - it currently has the following;

CentOS
ArchLinux
Backtrack
Linuxmint
Ubuntu (iso's only at this stage)

Have fun

to mirror the full ubuntu-packages is around 450Gb - which seems rather excessive - but I will look into it

Awesomesauce! Can you let us know when it's done? I'll switch the repos for my boxes at home over at that point.

Probably wont be done until around 6pm at the current rate (averaging ~ 400Mb/s) - but after the initial rsync should be all gravy.

Any other distro's people think we should mirror?

Fedora is an interesting one... it needs around 1.2T for a full mirror - I will look into doing a partial mirror (for x86_64 & i386)

You could look into "Unofficial Repositories", for example Ubuntu unofficial repositories support extra packages not in the official one and merge them, though I don't know the legalities involved, one mirror to bind them all.
