I am about to switch to xnet vfx and will install a SPA122. I understand the recommended method of connecting the analog phone is directly to the 'Phone 1' socket on the ATA.
A couple of questions...
1) My broadband modem and router are not conveniently located anywhere near where I want a phone. I am therefore wondering if I can use the existing phone sockets around the house as an 'extension lead' between the phone and ATA? i.e., can I connect the 'Phone 1' socket of the ATA to one of my wall sockets and connect my analog phone to another?
(I am not sure if the exiting phone sockets are daisy chained or star wired, probably a combination of both.)
Another option I have is to disconnect the feed from the Telstra junction box and connect that to the ATA. Would that work?
2) While most of my phones are cordless I do have two wired ones. I believe only 'Phone 1' can be used on the SPA122? Is it possible to have two wired phones connected simultaneously to that socket?
Any help appreciated.
