Hi

Looking to find out if Vodafone's Huawei F685 Homephone wireless set will work over Suresignal

We have a farm which has no mobile coverage and no more lines in without have to dig a new trench to run cables.

One of the existing lines has a sure signal on it and we are looking to setup a HPW in the shearers quarters which are in range of the suresignal.

I've noticed the new HPW device says its 3G, but just looking to make sure this would actually work

It should work as the Huawei F685 is 3G

whats the cost of getting a handset to use with the 2talk account?

It would need to be a cordless walk about style phone and its being used by very non-technical people, so it need to be as easy as pick up and call

find yourself an ATA, set that up. then you just plug any regular phone into it. its pretty easy!

I think the issue is distance from the sure signal to the shearers quarters i.e. it would be hard to run a phone cable to this building and / or effectivly get good range from a cordless phone. Hence why the sure signal would be used to cover the home phone wireless signal. Also the Shearers wouldnt want to have the same line/phone number as the main house.

But yeh... ATA's have its merrits.

Its more common than you think !
I often goto a place which has limited cellular coverage unless your prepared to stand ouside in a certain spot holding your leg out and they have broadband... slow but works none the less (slow being about 2-5Mbps).

Edit: remember copper was around before cellular networks !

What is your broadband connection like? SureSignal might work, but it needs a fairly decent up/downstream rate. If you're on a rural Conklin, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sure Signal requires a minimum 1 Mbps connect in order to function correctly, if you are only interested in voice calls that should be fine...your 3G data connection will be limited to whatever your broadband connection is...if the shearers are wanting to upload photos via Facebook, they might get frustrated:-)
