Does anyone know of a Vodafone service that would allow me to have two devices tied to one plan? I am aware of carPhone Duo but as far as I am aware outbound calls/data from the carPhone Duo are not charged the same as your standard plan.

Currently I have a Treo 750v as my phone and email device but as with all the smart phones I've tried, the crashing and lock-ups are driving me up the wall.

What I'd like to have is a simple phone I can use for calling, but from time to time I may want to make calls off the Treo, or use data off the phone for calling - but I'd like to have my data plan shared between both devices, as with calling.

How do you manage to make the 750V crash and lock up? The Harrier used to do that a little before I updated the system ROM, but since then, none of the Windaz phones have behaved badly for me.

Answer to your first question is no. Only option is carphone duo

Hopefully when Vodafone finally finish their billing system sometime around 2015 we might see some more innovative billing options such as this. At least with Vodafone however a data plan can be linked to a phone unlike Telecom. One thing seriously lacking in NZ is a home style plan similair to TalkZone where family members can share a plan and data allocation across multiple SIM cards. It amazes me Telecom haven't introduced such a plan since they have been the innovators over the past few years. Maybe Vodafone will surprise us one day! :-)

I have both the Treo 750v (Vodafone) and Treo 700wx (Telecom) and no problems - and I have lots of beta software running on these...

Hrm - john, do you know what happens with the billing on a carPhone Duo plan? If I'm on say, talkZone would I be billed my normal talkZone rate for calls off the carPhone Duo, or would I pay a different rate? What about data, can I add a plan to the carPhone Duo SIM and a small plan (like 15MB) to my phone SIM?

Smartphone wise, the 750v is the best I've used, it doesn't crash often, but for example I may be on a conference call and the phone gets pushed a new email which will cause the phone to completely lock up for a few minutes (perhaps this is related to processor power?). Also if I'm in the car using a bluetooth carkit the phone can link up and then when I get a call (not all the time, only sometimes) the phone will get itself into a state that I can only make the menus and calls work again if I push the reset button.

Again - compared with having a harrier, apache and two i-mate's in the past, the 750v rocks. But there's only so much calling people back with "sorry, my phone crashed/locked" I can do. I'm reluctant to look at things like Blackberry or Symbian based phones as WM integrates so well with Exchange.

You can have a data plan,

Carphone duo is setup for in Built carphones only! not carkits (where phones can be removed)
