Someone at Vodafone has been busy registering a whole lot of new 1800mhz licences over the last couple of weeks (blank drops = new 1800mhz), assuming these will be for LTE rather than pumping up their 2G/3G networks but can't really tell from the RSM info:

Also a new 700MHz test site at Cromwell:

In comparison Telecom still have a long way to go (diamond drops = LTE):

I'm surprised Telecom haven't got any 700MHz test sites, I would have thought that would have been the "golden" frequency, more testing the better. Next 12 months are going to be interesting in the LTE/4G space.

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

4G went live in a location yesterday I had to look up in Google maps, Had no idea where it was,

Interesting to note that yesterday I got a 4G signal on my GT-N7105 standing here in Napier. ~64Mb/s down.

Quite a few new Vodafone 1800mhz licences close to there with commencement dates of a couple of days ago. Check it here.

Telecom did have a 700 MHz test licence for a while out in the Central Hawkes Bay, maybe they have let it lapse?

Probably best to read the About page on the link I posted above so you know what you're looking at.

You have to keep in mind, all that is being plotted is the RSM licences. They change week on week. Sites get added, sites get removed/changed. Last week there were only two 1800Mhz Vodafone licences in Invercargill. They may change before Vodafone(/Telecom/2Degrees/Whoever) actually flick the switch to make the sites live to the public.
