Hi All;

I have two of these fancy new Vodafone TV's and an Ultra hub that Vodafone have provided.

After ringing tech support for the Vodafone TV's because usually two or three times a day I get a message on both Vodafone TV's saying "No Internet Connection" and the TV Screens usually go black, or sometimes if I'm really lucky, I get told that I'm not subscribed to that channel, but that is displayed for all TV Channels.

One Vodafone TV is ethernet wired and the other uses the wifi extenders on bridge mode, this problem happens to both TVs.

Also, there is nothing wrong with the internet itself - as when the TV's can't find the internet, I still get pings to google.com with no losses and still get 197/20 in speed test from an ethernet connection.

The only way I have discovered to get the system out of this funk is to unplug everything (both Vodafone TV's, Both Wifi Extenders and the ultra hub - turn on the ultra hub and let it sort itself out. Then plug in the wifi extenders and reconnect them, then finally plug back in the Vodafone TVs). This takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Doing this three times a day is getting little annoying..

I was told by tech support that this is what needs to be done to any network and it is normal to need to reset everything this often. Now I'm no Network Administrator, just a humble airline pilot, but don't think that this is what is considered "normal"..

Second problem is when I try and set a static DHCP IP address for one device only (trying to figure out if having a static IP for the Vodafone TV's might sort the problem) nothing else on the network can connect to the internet. (Usually server cannot be found messages appearing on everything that is connected to the network except for the Vodafone TV's.

Something is clearly not right here. But tech support say the issues I have is a normal function of any network..

Hi

I am having similar issues.  Mine freezes completely, usually when trying to access YouTube or the On Demand services, the only way to get it running again is to unplug it and restart the box.  It's a real hassle and not what I expect from technology today.

I tried setting one of my network devices with a static LAN IP address and like you found that it stops any devices accessing the internet.

Sigh.

@empacher48 / @Splatty

Really sorry to hear about the connection issues. Can you message me with some details - connection type and account number, so we can start a diagnosis from our end.

Hi,

if your problem is with using the “Static DHCP - Home Network” setting in the Ultra Hub, don't use it at all.  If you put a device in the static IP’s area, it stops you connecting to the internet.

Firmware fix has been promised but as yet not delivered...  Current Firmware is 731.

Hope this helps.

I have the Vodafone Ultra Hub and still no update 28/3/18  If you specify a static IP, the DNS stops working and you can not access anything on the internet.  Also I can not get my SPA wifi or my internet connected alarm to work to the phone app.   Works fine on the HG659 but not the Ultrahub.
