Hello all

The much-promised firmware release for the Ultra Hub (grey) is here. Please note this doesn't apply to the Ultra Hub Plus (black).

Download the Ultra Hub firmware update here.

Please follow the upgrade steps outlined in this FAQ.

Issues addressed include:

  • Modem password change retained
  • Attaching a printer & onscreen instructions
  • Showing correct number of connected Wi-Fi devices
  • Showing correct number of LAN-connected devices
  • Outbound calls - number of rings to answer
  • Auto wireless channel selection for Wi-Fi
  • Telephone ringing schedule
  • Wi-Fi schedule

I'll provide a detailed list as an addition to this post.

Cheers

m

Do we have to manually install the firmware update or if we just do nothing will the router do it automatically eventually?

Thanks, I downloaded this and updated my Ultra Hub this morning.  All good until I went to set my local DNS server IP to match IP address used by SmartDNS for international TV.  However I am not able to edit the 192.168.1.1 that is there.  On the earlier firmware version, I simply changed this and then applied changes.

Does anyone know a work around

Am I doing somthing wrong when I try to change the router address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1  ?

After changing, the router is usless until I hard reset it and start again.

Edit, Im still using previous firmware....however the reason I want to change it is so I can then 'see' a particular device that has been set to point to that gateway.

My old netgear was the 192.168.0.1 address.

Unfortunately not.  I needed to change my DNS as I utilise SmartDNS ( www.smartdnsproxy.com )for international TV.   I gave up on the Ultra Hub and went a bought a Netgear R7000P Router which has all the options available.  New router works a treat.

I thought so as I gave up on it as well. I watch Direct TV and ESPN+ on a FireTV using Getflix for the DNS. Not being able to change the DNS was the incentive to stop using it and try something else.

I ended buying an Edgerouter ER X, cheap switch and TP Link AP. The wifi access is now a hell of alot better then what I had with the Ultra Hub.

@MikeHales - any solution for this? Hesitant to update until there is a solution for this.

I upgraded the firmware shortly after it was announced. Twice in the last two days I've had all my devices (phones, laptops, tablets) report that there was no WiFi network for them to connect to. Rebooting the router got everything going again. I never had this problem with the old firmware. Anyone else experienced this?

@MurrayM … just checked a couple of phones and laptop … no problem with wifi connecting (no reboot required).

The devices were all working fine one minute and then the next they all reported no WiFi. I suppose I should have pulled out a cable and connected directly to the router and logged into it to see if any errors were reported there, but it was easier to just reboot the router to get the WiFi going again.

I'll monitor the situation to see what happens, it may have just been a couple of one-off problems, just seemed strange since my previous experience with this router is the WiFi has been rock-solid.
