NZ media have been a little slow on this one (Aussie media reported it last night) but it seems like Vodafone NZ might be close to being sold to a joint venture 50/50 deal between Morrison & Co and Brookfield.

I guess the IPO may not be happening now!

I guess it'll be interesting to see if the Vodafone brand stays or it becomes a rebranded company such as Z when Morrison & Co become involved (through Infratil).

$10. That's my best offer.

I had noticed that Jason Paris had gone very quite on Geekzone recently, must have realised he was fighting a uphill battle which he couldn’t win.

As much as I’m sure he tried to make a positive impact, my experience of Vodafone recently has been the worst I have ever experienced in the 15+ years I’ve been with them and this seems to be a common theme given other recent posts about Vodafone. Unfortunately one man at the top isn’t going to be able to fix something that is inherently broken.

In the threads that he did post on, I could see that he was trying to make promises that things would change for the better and people would take ownership of issues but what we have been experiencing as customers in most recent days is a complete failure to take any ownership when trying to achieve the most basic requests from customers. Even when you try to give them new business, it’s almost like they don’t want it so much that they will do whatever possible to encourage you to use another provider.

At this point I think a sale and re brand is probably for the best, a chance for a fresh start.

I imagine either of two things will need to happen under new ownership; pump in a massive amount of capex to clean up the legacy systems, or bring the customer service function back to NZ and improve the CRM so that the messy back end is less inclined to impact customers.

The former seems like the better long term solution but it's expensive and risky, so I'm hoping that someone can successfully execute the latter.

Hopefully a new owner will extend the handset range beyond the current three options of Apple, Samsung and Huawei

You are not wrong there. I had a five week battle to get my internet plan upgraded and shift to VOIP for phone. In the end I got there but after complaining got a one month account credit.

Wow, that is one way to interpret things.

Could be, Jason is a busy CEO and right now has to prioritize other things.

VF is very broken right now, it's not an easy or short term fix. There is a lot going on.

Rebranding doesn't do anything without the resources to make change occur. A new coat of paint will NOT fix things, and people aren't stupid, they remember.

I wonder if the offshoring of their call centres is still going ahead now?

Why do you think that would all of a sudden change?

My resign with Vodafone was actually positive. Retentions were great. Ok it is 8 days later and no modem has turned up nor the transfer happened but hey :)

How about a progress update in two months.

Yes the Herald article noted they have an interest in them, and they just signed a mobile deal with Spark!

Well he had the time to comment on previous Geekzone posts with promises of taking ownership, but those promises seem to have fallen to the wayside as it’s blatantly obvious that they haven’t changed and things have only got worse.

Maybe it’s a case of things getting worse before getting better, but I do wonder how bad it needs to get. They must be bleeding customers as most I know are moving away from them. Cant do them any good as I’m sure any potential purchaser will take current issues into account when deciding a purchase price.
