And I only just reinstalled 7057 due to crappy software mucking up the partition table...

Is this RC2?

I've been using it for half a day so far.  I haven't looked too closely, but no big changes that I can see. (no desktop.ini though!)  I did noticed that my dual tuner 2200 was only acknowledging one of my tuners.  I updated the driver and seems fine now.

As before with earlier builds of W7, I still get rogue scheduling behaviors.   Not sure if I'm the only one but:
- sometimes records program a few hours early, and then again as scheduled
- when editing days of a recording, the recording time changes occasionally.
- often does not seem to record the set duration. short a couple minutes
- recordings sometimes show up as 'Manual', even though series has a name set. Deleting the series, and readding doesn't fix this. Still popups up once in a while

Oh, the other thing that 7057 did for me was often tell me that my video card didn't meet the min requrements, and then video playback was very jerky. Rebooting usually fixed that.  Thankfully I haven't encountered that with 7068 yet.

I really need to change ISP - 40% downloaded and still a day to go!

Are you using DVB-S freeview guide data or an XML type one such as BSE?

I have 7068 and am having all sorts of issues with it. Since 7057 things seem to be going backwards, I had no issues with build 7000 and 7048.

First issue is on upgrading and a fresh install I get a 9F BSOD, something to do with power states, I only have this on my real live media center. A Virtual Machine install works with no problems.

Second issue is importing the Guide data, it's a no go at the moment. Loading MXF file forever :-(

Still get dodgy recording, ie select House and get Boston Legal as well. Oh and the names of the recordings are normally a show out, ie House will record as Boston Legal.

Thank MS for Windows Home Server though, I can blitz my media center upgrading or trying a fresh install and get it back to a working 7057 or 7048 within an hour. Even the wife likes that feature.

cheers

No this is a Pre-RC1 build. RC1 will be out in May (maybe).

Look at it this way.

Build 6xxx to 705x were Alpha and Beta.
Build 705x to now are Pre RC1 builds.

The next officially released build will be RC1, code is locked down and if no major bugs are found and MS is happy Release To Manufacture (RTM) or Gold version is released.

If RC1 has "show stopper" bugs as they like to call them, RC2 will be developed and tested and so on until RTM.

I expect like Vista RC1 will be release and if no bugs are found, 3 months later RTM will be released to big business (OEM's) and shortly after that MSDN and Technet (got Vista in November 06), and then Public (Vista in Jan 07) before back to school season in the US.

cheers

Ah bad news. I haven't noticed shows being recorded as other scheduled shows, but perhaps related to the 'rename shows to manual' bug that I've experienced. Too early to say if things are worse for me or not.  I did experience one blue screen after uninstalling the 2200 driver. (but i hadn't tried that in previous versions, so I can't say if that's worse or not)

I'm just using the 'what's on now' from DVB-T guide, and webpage and manually schedule programs. (old school, i know)

I really haven't noticed much different yet, and if browned says he's having more issues than before, really no rush to upgrade to 7068.
